  Head of the House or an Ayatollah?

  do the jw's still have a belief in headship?

  i'm talking about where the male is the head of the house.

  his word is law, his wife is in subjection to him, his children are meant to sit and listen in awe to his every pronouncement.

  Good God yes..ive seen some Ogres in my time.Big Men smacking the living S***e out of little Kids who may have played slightly up at a Meeting.One Man (an Ms)was extremely violent with his step-Kids and the Mother just used to sit there and agree with everythinh he did to them.Could never understand that Man.....he used to kick the Dog aswell!

  I like to think that his youngest Step-child ,who left on his sixteenth Birthday from the Religion AND the Household has since gone back to the House and given HIM some back...sadistic Bastard.

  All too common the use of the Rod im afraid.My own opinion is that to hit a Child in any way,shape or form is Abuse and should be viewed as such by the authorities..im hoping the Law will be passed very soon.

  Sheesh. We were 2 up against Portugal in the quarter-finals at Euro 2004 and we lost 3 - 2!

  If only that was the case,but we lost on bloody penaltieas again!!My humble opinion says to drop Becks and maybe bring in phillips?Why not...becks has been a liability for a Year now!!

  Two Witnesses Rule hypocrisy

  isn't it interesting that if two people see someone leaving someone?s house at 5am, thus they stayed all night, that is grounds for dfing.

  (see elder's book)

  yet, when a child says something happened - even if it can be verified that the person was alone with the child at the time - unless there are two witnesses to the actual crime nothing can happen in the way of dfing.

  We talked about depression. We did not pursue a judicial case against her since we came to the conclusion that without her medicine she had no control of what she was thinking. Sad case, but it goes to show what can happen in some cases

  An unusually balanced viewpoint i must admit.

  Are there "Rules" to Dating a JW? Why?

  i know growing up there were certain unsaid rules about dating....i always had to have a chaperone or go in a group....can anyone think of all the obligatory rules that you had to follow....and did you follow them "word for word"?

  1 of the most ridiculous rules was the ol,keeping the front door open if you were alone with a member of the opposite sex!Closely followed by not being in a Car on your own with a Girl..even on FS!!!As if we were going to do return visits then pull over for some nookie... anyway you shoulda seen some of the minger,prudey Pioneer partners i was with...ye gods!

  Do you have "cold sweats"?

  over the last 2 years, especially early on, as i was "forced" to finally face the facts about my life-long religion, i had many a nightmare, waking up in a cold sweat, fearing that i'd lost my hope for everlasting life, fearing that armageddon was just around the corner, wondering if i'd made the right decisions.. perhaps the worst of all was walking away from the bible, insofar as it being carte blanche "word of god.

  " then, of course, comes along the idea of the ransom, etc...'reject jesus, and you've rejected life.'.

  i'd be lying to say that, even now, i don't still have some little nigglings that make me wonder.. however, the days of the "cold sweat" are long gone.. you?.

  Yes i must admit i do get a terrible dread sometimes about the future!Even tho i dont believe a word about the religion,its still at the back of my mind.Death,destruction and Armageddon...it was lovely learning all that as a Child ....

  my 1st real christmas (after 13 years ).

  6 years after my activity, i met someone who always had a huge christmas carol party.

  the music, laughs, fun was something i had not had for 13 years, as i was not a witness growing up.
